The artist created the paintings in 2013, originally inspired by “Google Mockers” art gallery ad in Beverly Hills Courier, March 17, 1989, printed on the same page as her solo show announcement at Richard Burton Gallery.

“The word “google” captured my attention, especially associated with a nearby Los Angeles art gallery. It was so interesting to me that I later researched its origin, and learned that the word was associated with the mathematical term Googil, or 10 to the 100th power. Alive 1965: new paintings is the unveiling exhibition of selected works from “Beyond the Golden Ratio: Book 1965” – a 100-painting series in progress. The artist presents her early sketchbook pages as new paintings that reflect a post war approach to art. The title “Beyond the Golden Ratio: Book 1965” refers to early 20th century painting theories introduced to the bay area after World War I as the modern movement. A copy of the original book page source in the photos accompanies each painting.
